Scrap Lumber Makes A Great Compost Bin
Look around a bit and you’ll see all kinds of compost bins offered up on the market. All shapes and sizes are available and a few even spin and rotate around and that’s all well and good. But your next compost bin and all of the stuff you need to put one together might be sitting around and a lot closer than you think.
And if you’re already into recycling and reuse, a DIY compost bin made out of recycled parts just makes sense and it’s not all that complicated to do.
Even though there’s some great natural science going on when in comes to composting, we have to be honest, a compost bin isn’t rocket science and it doesn’t have to be fancy to do the job.
Take this design for instance.
It was made out of all recycled, or scrap lumber from an old wood deck. Add a few screws, and chicken wire and you’ve got yourself a fine looking compost bin!
About the only thing you really need to keep in mind is the source of the lumber. It should probably be untreated wood for the healthiest compost so be a little picky where you get the raw materials. Other than that, you’re good to go!
