Replacing Old Mulch With Some Color
Over time we’ve gradually replaced some areas of mulch in our landscaping with a different kind of broad cover. This isn’t something for everyone necessarily but if you’re tired of looking at the same old dingy mulch after awhile this might be a great alternative for you too.
Live mulch, as it’s called simply uses some good ground covering plants and flowers to take up the space that the wood mulch used to.
Preparation is pretty simple. You’ll want to remove any weeds or unwanted growth in the planting area, till the soil a bit until you have a nice loose bed, and then broadcast the seed blend and give it some time and care.
Here’s a video that talks a bit more about this great alternative to mulch. It’s a bit retro and the narration is, as we used to say, groovy, but it will show you what you can do with the product called Live Mulch.
